Abstract

International trade has long been a driver of global economic development and interdependence among nations. This article explores the foundational theories of international trade, from classical concepts like absolute and comparative advantage to modern theories such as new trade theory and the gravity model. It also discusses contemporary practices shaped by globalization, trade agreements, technological innovation, and policy instruments like tariffs and quotas. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of trade thinking, the role of institutions such as the WTO, and real-world applications of trade policies by countries. By linking theory to practice, the article provides a holistic understanding of how international trade operates in a dynamic and complex global environment.
